Applications are now open for the Sommeliers Education Course, which is offering 12 up-and-coming sommeliers from around the country the chance to develop their skills.

The intensive course acts as a training ground for those seeking to enter the international Court of Master Sommelier Program, which is said to combine aspects of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, the Court of Master Sommeliers and the Len Evans Tutorial.

It comprises three components across theory, service and tasting, and one out of the 12 participants is awarded Dux.

As part of this achievement, they win a trip to Burgundy in France with appointments at many of the top regional domains.

To apply for the course, contenders must be members of Sommeliers Australia and also be actively working in the hospitality industry.

A letter of introduction should state why applicants wish to undertake the course and how it will help them in their careers.
The scholars for this year’s course will be announced at the inaugural Sommeliers Symposium on Monday, August 17.
