Renowned cocktail historian and author Dave Wondrich has landed in Australia for a four-day tour to speak to the local trade about his upcoming book ‘Punch: The Delights (and Dangers) of the Flowing Bowl’, as well as host a selection of exclusive  bar training sessions.

Author of the best-selling cocktail history book, ‘Imbibe: the ultimate guide to classic American cocktails’, Wondrich is widely regarded as one of the leading experts on cocktail and bartending lore.

His visit will entail trade interviews, as well as guest appearances at Mixxit bar training sessions in Sydney and Melbourne.

“Dave is such a wonderfully affable human being,” said Mixxit brand training manager Jason Crawley. “I cannot wait for Mixxit attendees to not only meet him, but to experience his ridiculous depth of knowledge and speed of wit.”

A former English professor, Wondrich is also a contributing editor to Esquire magazine, and one of the founders of the Beverage Alcohol Resource (BAR), America's first serious training program for spirits and mixology.

“If there is something modern bartenders can learn from the nineteenth Century bartender, it is hospitality,” he said. “Today’s bartenders have all learned how to make great drinks, but sometimes they forget how to be hospitable to their customers.”

‘Punch: The Delights (and Dangers) of the Flowing Bowl’, will be available from November.
