Coles has announced two new appointments within its liquor group as it continues to focus on turning around its fortunes in the sector.

Having recently appointed Cathi Scarce as the new general manager of operations with the Coles Liquor Group, the supermarket giant has now appointed a new general manager of First Choice stores and a general manager of merchandising.

Andrew Griffiths, currently the general manager of Spirit Hotels, will now add the First Choice liquor stores to his role. Griffiths has been the GM of Spirit Hotels since 2010 and previously he was a director with AAG Investments and the managing director of ALH Group (Northern Region).

Anthony Davie will be taking over as the group’s general manger of merchandising. He previously worked as the MD for Asia with Treasury Wine Estate, the MD for Asia, Pacific and NZ with the Fosters Group and the MD for Australia and Asia Pacific with Beringer Blass Wine Estates.

Coles has adopted a long-term outlook as it aims to turnaround its liquor group and a spokesperson for the company told TheShout that these appointments are “just part of the team that will execute that [turnaround].
