Australia’s online guide to craft beer, The Crafty Pint, is calling on brewers, venue owners and beer lovers to unite on February 22 for a national day of celebration of craft beer.

Crafty Pint founder James Smith said the Craft Beer Rising event recognises the revolution currently sweeping the beer world, with drinkers “turning away from bland macro lagers and embracing the world of flavour”.

“The Australian beer scene has undergone a seismic change in the past few years and it’s all down to the people who had the passion and courage to do something different and challenge the status quo,” he said.

“We’re grateful for what they do day in, day out and know that growing numbers of people across the country are too. Craft Beer Rising is our way of giving something back, by encouraging beer lovers to come together and share a celebratory beer with the brewers that are driving the revolution.”

Registrations are now open for anyone wishing to register an event for Craft Beer Rising. Just head to www.craftbeerrising.com.au and follow the simple instructions. Already registered are tap takeovers, new beer launches and meet the brewer events.

Craft Beer Rising is supported by Newcastle craft beer bar The Grain Store, Bintani, Hop Products Australia and Good Beer Week, the country’s largest celebration of craft beer, which returns to Melbourne from May 17 to 25.

Grain Store owner Corey Crooks said: “Craft Beer Rising reinforces what we do every day of the year, which is to support what’s happening in our own backyard because we want to see it grow.”

“Across Australia, the benchmark for quality and consistency has been well and truly raised."
