Leading Sydney and Melbourne beer venues, The Local Taphouse, has announced an Australian craft beer theme for its next ‘SpecTAPular’ beer festival.

Over 20 of Australia’s top craft breweries will participate in the Great Australian Beer SpecTAPular next February, showcasing truly unique beers brewed especially for the festival.

Some of the beers from producers such as Stone & Wood, Feral Brewing, Otway Estate and Holgate Brewery include a Belgian Red Ale with cranberries and whiskey-soaked cherries, a Maibock strong lager, an Organic Blueberry Hefeweizen, a Belgian Wit Raspberry beer with coriander and sweet orange peel, a strong Scotch Ale (aka Wee Heavy), and a Chocolate Chilli Porter.

The Local Taphouse co-founder, Guy Greenstone, said that the event is one of the most exciting beer festivals to take place in Australia.

“To have a lineup of beers from these breweries any day of the week would be a treat but to have all them brewing a festival beer just for our summer SpecTAPular is nothing short of phenomenal,” said Greenstone.

“This is going to be a very historic day for not only me but an army of craft beer lovers.”

The Local Taphouse Great Australian Beer SpecTAPular takes place at both Sydney and Melbourne venues on Saturday, February 12 2011, kicking off at midday.
