A new nightclub has opened in Sydney’s Kings Cross last week called, literally, theclub.

Located in the site of the former strip club Dancers, theclub is the brainchild of Julian Tobias, who opened ultra-exclusive Sshh nightclub last year, which required a unique code to enter that was changed nightly.

The space has been completely transformed by interior designer Ian Nessick, who has created a venue with the feel of an expansive and opulent lounge room. Sourcing furniture from antique auctions, theclub has a “new haute bohemian theme”.

“The beauty of the venue is that all furnishings are surprisingly cheap, having been scouted from antique auctions, some dating back 150 years,” said Nessick.

In keeping with the theme, wood has been sourced from old libraries to create the DJ booth, which includes a private space for the DJ’s friends.
