Melbourne bar Der Raum and cocktail fraternity the Melbourne Temperance Society are hosting a series of master class sessions to explore the signature cocktails of some of the world’s best bars.

The first session, to be held tomorrow night (April 28), will pay homage to New York’s speakeasy-style bar Death & Company.

The evening will see the Der Raum bar team explore the cocktail menu that earned the innovative bar a nomination for ‘Best Drinks Selection’ at last year’s ‘Tales of the Cocktail’ festival in New Orleans.

Drinks such as the Iron Chancellor, made from Champagne, Mackeson Stout and espresso syrup, and the Velvet Warhol made from banana chip-infused Gosling’s Rum, Creme de Cacao and topped with aromatised cream will be dissected, discussed and enjoyed at the session.

Established in 1995, the Melbourne Temperance Society is a cocktail group dedicated to keeping the art of intelligent drinking and bartending professionalism alive.

Tickets for the master class session are $35 for members and $50 for non-members.
