Dewar’s is popping up a Whisky Emporium for five weeks at The Grace Darling Hotel in Melbourne to share stories about the brands founders and few drams along the way.
Located on Smith St. in Collingwood, The Dewar’s Lock Inn will be celebrating the life and times of Tommy Dewar, the maverick son of Dewar’s Founder, John Dewar.
According to Dewar’s Whisky brand ambassador, Andy Wren, Tommy Dewar was a bit of a character, and well worth celebrating.
“He knew his Dad’s whisky was great but also knew the value of advertising and generating publicity,” says Wren. “He also coined some fantastic wee phrases, now known as Dewarism’s, my personal favourites being ‘We have a great regard for old age. When it's bottled’ and ‘Never question your wife's judgement – look who she married’.
“The Dewar’s Lock Inn is an opportunity to share some drams and stories about Tommy, a place to relax with mates over some great whisky and away from the cold Melbourne winter.”

Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4 August – 3 September, the Lock Inn will be open for samples of the full range of the “World’s Most Awarded Blended Whisky”, Dewar's, alongside some of the award-winning single malts that make up the blends.
The tastings will be paired with the chance to hear Wren spin a few tales about Dewar’s, as well as live music and scotch eggs.
