The Bundaberg Distilling Company and parent company Diageo will commit $750,000 to support the Queensland community and the government's immediate relief and recovery efforts following the flood crisis.

The funds will be made available to the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal and in the form of a financial contribution to emergency services in the Bundaberg region.

“As the state works to recover from the crisis, a series of events organised by the Bundaberg Distilling Company to help unite the community and raise further funds for flood recovery,” said a Diageo spokesperson.

“More information about these events will be made available in the coming weeks.”

The Bundaberg Distilling Company has operated at the same site in Bundaberg since 1888 and has previously survived major floods and fires.

It was not damaged by the flood waters on this occasion but operations were temporarily restricted due to issues with local supply services.

While the Diageo Australia Queensland office at Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, was evacuated at the peak of the flooding, the office was not damaged.

“Diageo Australia is taking measures to help its customers and other business partners get back on their feet, and in doing so support the Queensland economy through this challenging time,” said the spokesperson.
