Representatives from Diageo’s bar training program Alchemy have triumphed to take out the first two places in the inaugural ‘Repmatch Beeyatch’ bartending competition at Bayswater Brasserie, Potts Point last night (Jan 31).

A spin-off of the popular ‘Rematch Beeyatch’ competition, where 10 bartenders to have to make 10 cocktails in as fast a time as possible, this latest installment involved representatives from some of Australia’s top liquor distribution companies, including Ben Davidson from Pernod Ricard and Manuel Terron from Southtrade International.

Despite stiff competition from all representatives, it was Alchemy’s Nick van Tiel who took out first place with a time of 3:04, closely followed by his boss Sven Almenning, with Suntory Australia’s Matt Barnett coming third.

Entry to the competition cost $50, with the winner taking the $400 kitty and a ‘Re-match’ T-Shirt.

The competitor who comes in last earns himself a ‘Beeyatch’ T-shirt, with Southtrade’s Terron securing that prize last night.

Van Tiel has decided to donate his winnings to the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti
