Drinkwise will host a national forum to discuss how to create a safer Australian drinking culture in Sydney next Tuesday (Apr 28).

The forum will feature a presentation by Dr Aaron White of the USA National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, who will explain his groundbreaking research on the short and long-term effects of excessive drinking by teenagers.

White’s visit coincides with the development of phase two of DrinkWise’s social change program, which aims via generational change to foster a safer drinking culture in Australia. Phase two embraces the need to delay the onset of drinking by teenagers.

Other speakers scheduled to attend the forum include health promotion expert Noel Turnbull, Olympic medallists Geoff Huegill and Rachel Sporn, as well as leading academics and alcohol reform experts.

DrinkWise is jointly funded by the Australian Government and the alcohol industry and is dedicated to building a safer drinking culture in Australia.
