Sustainability is a big factor in our industry now, with brands, bars, bartenders and consumers using sustainable credentials to inform decisions about what they stock and what they buy.

The credentials of the B-Corp certified Cape Byron Distillery are rock solid, and now the home of Brookie’s Byron Gin is adding to those credentials with the launch of its ReGINeration Cocktail Competition.

Brookie’s Byron Gin is distilled on a 95-acre property in the hinterland of Byron Bay, which has grown into a thriving rainforest ecosystem after the Brook family regenerated the area with over 40,000 trees.

So it’s a natural fit that the distillery’s ReGINeration Cocktail Competition invites bartenders to showcase their creativity with a cocktail that is inspired by the rainforest.

Cape Byron Distillery Co-Founder and Distiller, Eddie Brook said: “We are stoked to officially welcome bartenders to submit their cocktails inspired by the rainforest to our ReGINeration cocktail competition.

“Our rainforest story began over 30 years ago with my family replanting over 40,000 rainforest trees on our family farm here in Byron Bay where our distillery is now located.

“By encouraging bartenders around Australia to create cocktails inspired by the rainforest and native ingredients, we aim to not only promote the unique and distinct flavours of Australian botanicals, but also raise awareness about the crucial need for rainforest conservation and regeneration.”

The national competition is open to all bartenders across Australia, with regional finals to be held in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra across May and June. The six winners from each regional final will win a trip to the Byron Bay Distillery to experience the rainforest and the delights of the region first-hand.

The group will also enjoy a gin-making workshop with Brook, where they will have the opportunity to craft their own Brookie’s Gin.

Bartenders can submit their signature serve at ReGINeration Australian Cocktail Competition – Cape Byron Distillery by March 31, 2023, and promote their entry cocktail in their venue throughout April.
