Hilton Sydney received a range of awards and commendations at this year’s HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence, including walking away with the ‘Hotel Bar of the Year’ award for its Zeta Bar.

“I’m delighted to see Zeta Bar collect the 20th award in its six-year history, making it the most awarded cocktail bar in Australia,” Hilton Sydney general manager, Paul Hutton, said.

“This is an outstanding achievement and proves that we continue to lead the way in cutting-edge bar trends and set internationally pioneering standards.”

Zeta Bar is currently hosting its ‘Extreme Cabaret’ every Friday night, which combines cutting edge theatrical cabaret and burlesque elements with the sexy mystique of the 19th Century underworld.

Described as ‘Moulin Rouge meets the dark side’, the weekly event features extreme burlesque performers, juggling dwarfs, snake charmers, contortionists and fire acts.

In addition, a range of innovative and risqué absinth cocktails, created by bar consultant, Grant Collins, are served during the night with liquid nitrogen in vessels such as smoking teapots and faux-poison bottles.

“To mirror the unique and vibrant event concept, I have developed a menu of cocktails with the same theatre and ‘shock factor’ as the dramatic décor and extraordinary acts,” Collins says.

“Be prepared to expect the unexpected at Extreme Cabaret. I have no doubt that the acts, atmosphere and cocktails will amaze everyone who experiences them and keep them coming back for more.”
