The Forresters' 'Live Music Battle' is in full swing, bringing at least 64 of Australia's newest and hottest music acts to perform at the Surry Hills pub over the coming weeks.

The event is sponsored by Jameson Irish Whiskey and will see over 100 performances in a 12-week competition, which began November 29.

Entrants from virtually every genre of music will perform four-song sets, battling for cash and prizes announced on the night.

The event is free for the public, incorporating eight heats over successive Thursday nights, before the three semi-finals and eventual grand final in February. [continues below]

"The opening night was a cracker, with some really diverse acts… from kooky, to polished, to original raucous hip-hop, they were all a pretty bloody good standard!" general manager Locky Paech told TheShout.

"It was awesome to see some decent live music in Surry Hills again, and there's no better place to have it than the karaoke room on The Forresters' top floor. "

There are still opportunities for acts that would like to be involved. Call Caroline Neill Ryan 0404 716 040.
