The Local Hotel in Fremantle has been bought by Leederville-based syndicator Scope Property Group in a deal worth $2.5 million.

Formerly known as the Seaview Tavern, current publican Phil Thompson and his business partner Ross McPherson renovated, renamed and then reopened the pub in September last year.

Scope Group director Robert Engelhard, said: "We are pleased to have acquired an iconic hotel in a premium location which will provide investors with secure, long-term returns. It has been a pleasure being able to work with hospitality professionals such as Phil and Ross and to see such a transformation in their business."

Last year's renovation helped to create a 1534sqm area in the hotel, which is now home to several bars, a beer garden, restaurant and accommodation.
