Delegates from nine French wine and Champagne makers will fish for local representation at exclusive trade tastings to be held in Sydney and Melbourne later this month.

Wine Partners, Pierre Chainier, Domaines et Vignobles Associes and Champagne Beumont Des Craveres are some of the suppliers taking part in Rendez-Vous 2008, a French wine and spirit roadshow that has already visited Brazil, China and South Korea, and will hit Sydney and Melbourne on October 29 and 30 respectively. It will also visit New Zealand next month.

“The tasting day is an opportunity for French companies to sample their products to trade professionals and to seek importers, distributors and agents in Australia,” said French Trade Commission of Sydney beverages trade officer, Emily Hammon.

“We are hoping to attract those types of people in addition to restaurateurs and bar people so they can give us feedback on their products.”

The tasting days are part of a weeklong mission that will see delegates tour wineries, bottle shops and on-premise venues to gain a better understanding of the Australian marketplace.
