Sydney venues The Local Taphouse and Hotel Sweeneys will be pouring some of the top beers from the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABs) 2014 from today.
Special brews to be featured include the Mx Peoples’ Choice Best Festival Beer – ‘Pralene’, from Victoria’s La Sirène Brewing (Taphouse only).
GABs is widely considered Australia’s premier craft beer festival and this year featured 105 'Festival Beers' made especially for the event by the best brewers from around Australia and overseas.
Some of beers on-tap at The Local Taphouse will include; KAIJU Beer (Vic), Garage Project (NZ), Bright Brewery (Vic), 2 Brothers Brewery (Vic), 7 cent Brewery (Vic) and HopDog BeerWorks (NSW).
Oscars Hotels’ hip Clarence Street venue Hotel Sweeneys is continuing its craft beer evolution by ranging a bunch of GABs beers from today through Sunday.
Oscars operations manager Peter Anstey told TheShout he is trying to showcase local and international craft beers in the CBD venues.
“We want to give customers the opportunity to try different styles of craft beer – both home-grown and from overseas,” said Anstey.
“There will be international beers from Denmark, New York and the UK, as well as limited edition brews created specifically for the GABS event.”
Hotel Sweeneys will boast 16 taps serving up GABs draughts, including six on its impressive rooftop bar overlooking the Sydney skyline.
Some of the fantastic one-off creations include Prickly Moses’ Nigella, the AIBA collaborator beer Land of Plenty, Doctors Orders’ Plasma and the moreish Sesame Snap-chat from Two Birds.
There is only one keg of each and the activations are ‘rolling takeovers’ – so when kegs come off, a new GABs beer goes on and if you miss it, it's gone.
