The company behind the fit-out of Gallaghers’ Le Pub in the Sydney CBD had a big night at the Master Builders Association (MBA) Excellence in Construction Awards on the weekend.

FDC Construction & Fitout took out seven awards including the prize for 'Interior Fitouts Division $1-2 million' for Le Pub (pictured).

The judges made mention of the illusion of natural light at Le Pub, despite the venue being located in the basement of a CBD building. [continued below]

Founder and managing director of FDC, Ben Cottle, said the standard and innovation of interior fitout in the pub industry appears to be constantly rising, "given that the customer experience as paramount".

“Each project tends to have unique elements, so the experience is similarly unique. 'Vanilla' simply doesn’t work, particularly not in the premium end of the hospitality market," he said.

“The combination of design, quality of finish and level of technology has a major impact on the customer, so this trio of objectives must be achieved for a venue to succeed."

Speaking to TheShout, Patrick Gallagher was thrilled at the news of another win for the group’s inner-city tribute to France.

“It seems to be resonating with the right sort of people,” said Gallagher.

“This was the first job we have done with FDC in years, and they were great to work with – very efficient, in what was quite a difficult setup."
