The cover of the May issue of National Liquor News celebrates Glenfiddich Grand Cru, a new release that is reimagining celebrations and challenging conventions.

Boundary pushing William Grant & Sons brand Glenfiddich, the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, is no stranger to pushing the limits of creativity and craftsmanship in its products. Now, the distiller has unveiled its latest creation Grand Cru, a whisky that aims to redefine moments of celebration through a new, luxurious, premium drinking experience.

The exclusive new expression has been matured for 23 years and finished in rare French cuvée oak casks, elegantly fusing the fine flavours of Scotland and France to create a daring and unexpected taste of luxury.

Grand Cru encapsulates the craftsmanship that Glenfiddich is renowned for and has utilised the art of experimentation to become a whisky for the nonconformists. The liquid is remarkably rich, intense in flavour yet finely finessed with the influence of American and European oak cask as well as the finishing French cuvée casks.

Ross Blainey, Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador, said the new release is unlike anything on the market.

“Glenfiddich is renowned worldwide for its mastery and innovation, so we’re excited to bring that to Australia once more with Grand Cru. In true Glenfiddich style, we’ve continued to experiment and push the boundaries for whisky to create exciting new flavours,” he said.

“We experimented to find the optimal maturation and finishing times and hand-selected the right balance of 23-year-old Glenfiddich casks out of our unique collection of old age malts. Marrying the best of both worlds, the final liquid is exquisite and a special tribute to each cuvée cask the malts were finished in.”

The layered whisky gives a range of aromas on the nose, from apple blossom to candied lemon and fresh baked bread. The palate features a harmony of rich vanilla, sweet brioche, sandalwood, pear sorbet and white grape, moving to a long, opulent finish. Glenfiddich notes such characteristics as perfect for sharing during moments of celebration to create unforgettable experiences.

The sleek black bottle too was designed to emanate the spirit of celebration, encouraging consumers to rethink how they mark special occasions, and trade up to the authentic luxury they deserve.

Available now from William Grant & Sons, Glenfiddich Grand Cru is sold in 700ml bottles at 40 per cent ABV and an RRP of $395.
