Venues across New South Wales are preparing to reopen their doors, and the priority is being able to safely welcome back guests.

To help here’s the NSW Government’s guidance for businesses and workplaces to reopen safely.

Update your COVID-19 safety plan – Your COVID-19 Safety Plan must address the matters required by the approved COVID-19 Safety Checklist.

The plans set out what businesses and organisations need to do to fulfil their obligations under public health orders and minimise risk of transmission of COVID-19 on their premises.

You need to keep a copy of your plan and provide it when asked to an authorised person.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination – As we reopen NSW, persons aged 16 and over will only be permitted to enter certain venues or settings if they are fully vaccinated or have a medical exemption. In some venues, children under 16 will have to be accompanied by a fully vaccinated member of their household to enter. There are several options to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Staff vaccination – Businesses are required to keep their premises safe and minimise the risk of infection and transmission of COVID-19 in the workplace. Employers should continually assess the health and safety risks to their employees in their particular industry given the changing risk profile.

Mandatory electronic check-in – Check in is required by staff and customers when they enter certain premises. If your business or organisation already collects contact details using a NSW Government QR code or the Service NSW business online form, it should continue to do so.

COVID-19 vaccination compliance and obligations for businesses – As NSW reopens, it is important that businesses are prepared to welcome back customers in a COVID Safe way and that new compliance obligations are understood.

Posters and signage – The signs, posters and stickers in this toolkit provide ourselves, our colleagues and our community reminders of accepted behaviours and new standards of etiquette that will help protect everyone and stop the spread of COVID-19.

Square metres rules – How to apply the square metres rules to calculate the maximum number of people allowed at a venue.

Face mask rules – Wearing a face mask is mandatory in some settings. Learn about when you need to wear a face mask, when you can remove it and who is exempt.
