Described as a new take on the breakfast beer, the Coffee Run Stout is Heaps Normal’s newest limited-release beer.

The beer has been brewed in collaboration with Newcastle’s Floozy Coffee Roasters and “bean queen” Kristy “Kmac” Mujana.

“We’re stoked to launch this delicious new beer, infused with coffee roasted in Newy. The Coffee Run Stout is a light-hearted play on combining two of our favourite drinking occasions – late night beers and early morning coffees,” said Heaps Normal co-founder and CEO Andy Miller.

The roast malt sweetness and hoppy bitterness of a classic stout are combined with Floozy’s pineapple, cherry and dulce de leche-forward Golden Hour bean blend. Each can contains about a fifth of the caffeine in a standard espresso shot.,

“Cold brew made from Floozy’s Golden Hour beans was just what this malty stout called for,” explained Heaps Normal’s Production Manager, Charlotte Richards.

The partnership was exciting for both teams, as Mujana is a Heaps Normal drinker, and the Heaps Normal team have Floozy Coffee in the office.

“I’m super excited about this special release brew because I’m a dark beer drinker and a non-alcoholic beer drinker. It’s so exciting to be able to collaborate with a company that I admire and come up with a product that brings all of our joint values together,” Mujana enthused.

Peter Brennan, Heap Normal co-founder and Chief Creative Officer explained that the label was an homage to the beer’s Newcastle roots.

“We worked with the amazing Kat Turner at Good Lucky to create the can illustration of a sassy, slightly disheveled seagull on a mission, coffee in hand. It reminds us a little of our Novocastrian feathered seagull friends hustling and scavenging for scraps from unsuspecting folks at cafe tables, grassy knolls and beach benches,” described Peter Brennan.

The launch will be accompanied by a series of interviews with creatives across the country, including Mujana and Richards.

The Coffee Run Stout is the brand’s second limited edition beer, and joins the core range of the Quiet XPA, Another Lager and Half Day Hazy.
