An internationally-renowned Heineken Master Beer Pourer has been sent to Australia to teach local bartenders the science behind a perfect draught beer.

Dutch national Franck Evers travels the world teaching bartenders and beer enthusiasts some little-known facts and realities about some of the finer points of beer service and quality.

Ever’s met Freddy Heineken in the late 1990s and was subsequently employed to show customers around Holland how to pour the perfect beer.

His passion and irreverent style proved very popular and soon led to presentations in cities and towns around the globe.

The Sydney Hilton’s Ivy Bar was the venue for Heineken’s Five Star Pour event on Monday night, where Evers demonstrated and invited participants to try his simple method for pouring an excellent draught.

Last night he appeared in Melbourne at Platform 28, and on Monday he will be in Perth at the Leederville Hotel.

Ever’s method was borne out of frustration with the lack of effort by bartenders and is intended to be fast, effective and consistent.

The method has since been adopted as the official Heineken world benchmark.

Franck Evers told TheShout: “I travel the world teaching people how to pour beer and treat beer the best possible way, and create a better drinking experience so customers are going to reorder and revisit and recommend the bar. We train with 2300 bars each year, with the same program running in Ireland, Singapore, and the USA.”
