The 2015 Hunter Valley Wine and Food month has officially kicked off.

There are more than 50 wine and food events throughout the month so organisers have said, "there is undoubtedly something deliciously exciting for everyone and to suit every budget".

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said: "Hunter Valley Wine and Food Month gives visitors the opportunity to meet some of the region’s best winemakers, producers and chefs and experience the outstanding food and wine culture for which the Hunter Valley is renowned."

"In the year ended December 2014, the Hunter received nearly 3.1 million domestic overnight visitors, and eating out at restaurants was the most popular activity for these visitors. The NSW Government is proud to support Hunter Valley Wine and Food Month as part of the Regional Flagship Events Program administered by our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, to help further drive tourism to the region."

During the month-long celebration in June there will be a variety of accommodation and event packages throughout the region, which is home to more than 150 wineries.
