An iconic Sydney bookshop has joined the growing number of small bars in the inner-west by opening up its own licensed premise.

Located in the Leichhardt branch of Berkelouw Books, Berkelouw Wine Bar features a small wine list, along with tasting plates and live jazz music.

“Our aim was to create a relaxed meeting place where you can appreciate the best of what life has to offer,” said co-owner Gary Mullins. “Live music, wine and delicate tasting plates.”

Their current wine list includes a selection of cool climate wines from Orange, with a focus on award-winning labels from local wineries such as Borrodell and Brangayne.

“The Orange region has a lot to offer and you normally only find these wines in select restaurants,” said co-owner Colin Cappelleri.

The Wine Bar will also feature regular events showcasing local produce, such as oyster and cherry nights, as well as book launches.

Berkelouw Books is well-known in Sydney for its rare, antique and hard-to-find books.
