Australian retailer, The Whisky List (TWL), has gained global recognition after being named Online Retailer of the Year at the Icons of Whisky Awards, presented by World Whiskies Awards.

The award is in the Rest of the World category, which includes retailers across Australia, NZ, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

The TWL team was understandably delighted with the award, with Founder Oliver Maruda telling The Shout: “This is an exciting win for the TWL team, and we could not have achieved it without our network of suppliers, partner retailers and most importantly, our customers. And this year is looking to be even bigger.

“So stay tuned whisky lovers for more delicious whiskies from us, and thanks for the support. Cheers.”

The store is now in the finals against other regional winners for the prize of being named Global Online Retailer of the Year, announced next month.

The other finalists include Abbey Whisky from the UK, and Ireland’s winner – Celtic Whiskey Shop. USA had no online retailer category due to the country’s liquor laws not allowing online retail nationally.

Australia has performed well at the awards with Dave Withers from Archie Rose named Rest of the World Master Distiller of the Year and Lark being named Sustainable Distillery of the Year.
