The Independent Liquor Group (ILG) has acquired Newcastle-based wholesaler Peter Doyle Cellars in a move that aims to compliment their growth strategies and purchasing power.

ILG said in a statement it believes the acquisition presents significant opportunities and will enhance the logistical and financial capabilities of the co-operative, while also boosting member benefits.

The move also aims to increase ILG’s reach and distribution, growing its footprint on the eastern seaboard and in the on-premise.

The news comes on the back of a management change for Peter Doyle Cellars, with new general manager Steve Williams to take up his role on May 1.

William’s appointment follows the departure of outgoing GM Martin O’Mara, who has taken up his former role of managing director of National Independent Liquor Wholesalers Association (NILWA).

Elizabeth Doyle is acting general manager of Peter Doyle Cellars for the interim period until Williams joins the wholesaler.
