A new and clear direction for the Independent Liquor Group (ILG) has been unveiled during its European Study Tour.

Speaking to delegates aboard the MSC Musica, ILG executive chairman Bob Bourne revealed the company’s new format.

"On June 26, the Board made a decision. What has resulted from that is a new and clear direction for ILG — one that favours the independent retailers.

"We are replacing all current ILG branding and will roll out an exciting new brand in tiered categories."

The full details of the changes and direction ahead are to be revealed during an ILG event at the Acer Arena on October 7.

New marketing for three products, including the launch of M sparkling and a new Tiger promotion, will also be discussed at the event.

Delegates of the ILG Tour enjoyed a day exploring Italy’s Bari before a networking hour sponsored by Constellation Wines on Monday.

The first ILG shore excursion took place yesterday with delegates treated to a trip to Katakolon Olympia.

The visit around the Olympia Ruins and through the Olympia Museum was sponsored by Independent Distillers. Delegates were able to walk the same path through the training grounds as Greek men did in 776BC.

The night was capped off with the Captain’s Cocktail Party, which saw the whole ship dressed in suits and glamorous gowns while mingling and sipping bubbles and cocktails.
