The expansion of the Four Pillars Distillery is progressing well and the company hopes the new space in Healesville, adjacent to its original home, will be open from March 2022.

Prior to the pandemic the old site on Lilydale Road attracted close to 100,000 visitors a year and long weekend queues highlighted the need for a bigger space.

The design, by award-winning sustainable-only Breathe Architecture, will nearly triple the capacity for visitors at Four Pillars as well as deliver much needed new production space, an outdoor gin garden as well as a custom-built bar and events space.

Four Pillars said it hopes more than 200,000 visitors will head to the new site every year to experience the new production site, outdoor gin garden, custom-built bar and event space.

The space will be powered by mainly solar panels, and is surrounded by a stunning copper ‘veil’ working as a natural heat exchanger, and there is also now mercifully plenty of onsite parking for visitors.

As well as the four handcrafted German copper stills; Wilma, Jude, Coral and Beth, the site will include a fifth, as yet unnamed still as well as in-house bottling and blending facilities.
