The Intermedia Group is pleased to announce it has fully acquired Beer & Brewer Magazine and associated products.

Beer & Brewer Magazine ideally complements Intermedia’s leading portfolio of liquor industry titles, including TheShout, National Liquor News, Australian Hotelier, Pub Dining and bars&clubs, as well as Top Shelf boutique drinks festival and the Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA).

“We look forward to engaging with beer and cider industry stakeholders in the coming months to get their input on how we can take Beer & Brewer Magazine to the next level,” said Intermedia managing director Simon Grover.

“We would like to acknowledge the tireless efforts by Beer & Brewer founder David Lipman to establish the magazine and educate and excite consumers about the beer category.”

Intermedia will be seeking feedback on what events are currently lacking in the beer industry calendar, with the role of the Beer & Brewer Awards and Conference currently under review.

“We hope to play a valuable role in widening the exposure of the craft beer and cider community as a whole,” Simon Grover said.

Craft Beer Industry Association (CBIA) acting chair Dave Bonighton welcomed the development, which has also seen Intermedia join the CBIA as an associate member.

“We understand David Lipman is stepping away from the magazine so we would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his dedication to the cause of good beer over the years and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” Bonighton said.

“With change comes opportunity and we look forward to working with The Intermedia Group through its various publications to help grow the Australian craft beer industry and we welcome their support as associate members of the CBIA.”

With the acquisition of Beer & Brewer, The Intermedia Group has restructured its Hospitality and Liquor division, appointing Paul Wootton to the role of Group Publisher, Hospitality.

As well as Beer & Brewer, Wootton will oversee Australian Hotelier, Pub Dining, bars&clubs and Top Shelf, Intermedia's new boutique drinks festival in Melbourne.

Wootton has extensive knowledge of the hospitality sector, having previously headed up the internationally renowned drinks magazine CLASS and more recently in his role of Editor at the UK’s influential Restaurant magazine.

Responsibility for the remainder of the liquor titles – TheShout, National Liquor News and ALIA – will be retained by James Wells in his role as Group Publisher, Liquor, MICE and Accommodation.

Wells meanwhile has been appointed to the role of General Manager, Intermedia Custom, the company’s new dedicated custom publishing offering, with Foxtel for Business and Fox Sports Venues as foundation clients.
