The season for floating restaurants, island clubs and pop-up bars has returned to Sydney with The Island Bar on Cockatoo Island set to reopen at the end of this month (September).

From Friday, September 30, Sydney-siders and visitors will be able to enjoy Harbour Bridge views from the island’s custom-designed bar space, running all the way through summer until mid-April.

A greater focus on food will see The Island Bar's proprietor, Marco Faraone, and his crew serving up Italian-style pizzas from a traditional Italian wood fire oven in the new custom converted ‘container kitchen’.

Extended under cover tables and seating will shelter diners from the sun or rain, and the trademark beach umbrellas and deck chairs the bar became known for will still embellish the green lawn at the harbour’s edge.

A refurbished upstairs lounge bar called ‘The Tropics Lounge’ will be available for private hire.

A guest DJ each Sunday and Rugby World Cup 2011 rugby action in October complete the offering.
