Wine brand Jacob's Creek has reclaimed the top sales position in the Australian market for the first time in nearly three years.

According to Aztec Market reports from May 2012, the brand has grown to represent six per cent of the value in the total Australian table wine market – capping off a strong year in Australia, which has delivered 24 per cent value growth for the brand.

Pernod Ricard Australia managing director Julien Hémard said the result demonstrated the success of the company's increased investment and 'premiumisation' strategy over the past three years.

"While the Australian wine industry is suffering from oversupply and priced-based competition, we've worked hard to ensure Jacob's Creek has maintained its premium position and improved its equity," he said.

Jacob's Creek recently signed a multi-year association with tennis legend, Andre Agassi, building on its tennis platform as official partner of the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

The brand also expanded its super premium St. Hugo range, as well as launching new Regional Reserve wines showcasing six varietals from six different regions of South Australia.
