Jim Beam has announced it is extending its sponsorship of a local surfing competition to include the first ever women’s series this weekend (November 15 and 16).

Now in its seventh year, the Jim Beam Surftag National Series aims at supporting young surfers at a grassroots level.

According to Jim Beam brand director Ray Noble, the introduction of a women’s series further indicates Jim Beam’s dedication to promoting the Australian sport at a local level.

“It demonstrates Jim Beam’s commitment to grassroots surfing.,” he said. “We are expecting the women’s event to go from strength to strength developing into a national series within the next few years.”

The inaugural event will be held this Sunday (November 15) at Sydney’s Curl Curl Beach.  Twelve teams will compete for the $2500 prize pool, including $1000 for first place.
