After six years of refurbishment and redevelopment, Sydney’s landmark Kings Cross Hotel is now officially open, with celebratory drinks to be held tonight.

General manager Graeme Murray said the proprietor had retained the building’s heritage and for the first time in 96 years the Kings Cross Hotel will be allowed to legally operate all five floors simultaneously.

“Since the doors of the newly refurbished hotel have opened, we have been thrilled to see so much industry and local community support of the hotel and its historical renovation,” he said.

The revamped hotel includes the Copperlilly Nightclub where the original 1913 lift car has been transformed into a private booth and a rooftop cocktail bar with views across the Sydney CBD.

“The hotel has been around for such a long time and with the continued support of our friends and neighbours, we see the hotel being open for another 96 years,” Murray said.
