The Retail Drinks Liquor Retail Summit is taking place this Wednesday, 19 May, meaning there’s just a couple days left to register.

This year the event will take place virtually for the first time, presented in partnership with Retail Global. It will be followed by the Retail Drinks Industry Awards presentation which celebrates excellence in Australia’s retail liquor industry.

The agenda for the Summit follows the event theme of ‘building resilience through adversity.’ This will be explored in five key sessions: The Regulatory Environment; Data & Insights; Online Liquor Retailing; People, Culture & Alignment; and finally, Category Workshops. Sessions will be packed with informative and educational keynote presentations, panel discussions and workshops from a wide range of speakers across the industry and beyond.

When launching the agenda, Retail Drinks CEO Michael Waters said: “To continue to succeed in business, we need the latest information, trends and ideas to help make business decisions.

“Retail Drinks’ Liquor Retail Summit gives members access to key insights and strategies designed to help their businesses run more efficiently and effectively, and will see business experts and industry leaders come together to deliver informative presentations and share their knowledge to reveal strategies and insights to help grow business and profits.”

One of the partners for the Summit is Food and Beverage Media, owner of National Liquor News and The Shout.

Paul Wootton, Managing Director of Food and Beverage Media, said: “This year’s Liquor Retail Summit has a brilliant line up of speakers and an agenda packed with important sessions that will help drinks retailers navigate what is becoming an increasingly complex business world. We’re proud to be supporting the event.”

In recent weeks, National Liquor News and The Shout have been providing exclusive sneak peeks of some of these important sessions at the Summit.

This includes an opening keynote address by Olympian and Founder of LMS Brewing, Steven Bradbury OAM, who will provide personal insights about overcoming adversity through his life and building resilience that ultimately led to his triumph at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.

Another great session is a panel led by The Shout’s own Andy Young, which will explore the future of online liquor retailing. Panellists in this session come from all areas of the online liquor retail sector, including Richard Kelsey, Co-founder and Director of Beer Cartel, Banjo Harris, Co-founder and Chief Wine Officer at Good Pair Days, Beatrice Ellefsen, Head of Customer Success APAC at dotdigital, Ed Kitchen, Head of Operations for Grocery and New Verticals ANZ at Uber Eats, and John Carmody, Managing Director at Liquor Legends.

Yet another angle that will be covered at the event is how to build strong teams and great places to work. This will be explored through the keynote presentation of Phil Preston, Founder of The Business Purpose Project.

Across the Summit will also be a range of sessions dedicated to data and insights that are integral to retail drinks business success. Speakers on these topics include representatives from Five Growth, IRI and Invigor Group.

This is just a taste of what’s to come on Wednesday. Don’t miss out – registration is still open, with the combined Summit and Awards online ticket priced at $500 +GST. It is completely free for Retail Drinks members – contact Retail Drinks to receive your promo code before registering.
