Australia’s oldest brewery pub has announced a bespoke addition to its acclaimed brew line-up, resulting from a partnership with Carnival Cruise Lines.

The Lord Nelson Hotel in The Rocks lays claim to an assortment of historic milestones including ‘Sydney’s oldest continually licensed hotel’, which has boasted a brewery in the back for the past 25 years.

In the tradition of its signature English ales the Lord Nelson has created Thirsty Frog Summer Ale, which will be served exclusively at the pub for a short time and in the bars on Carnival’s Spirit and Legend cruise-liners.

“Thirsty Frog Summer Ale is a very drinkable beer with subtle malt flavours and floral citrus aromas,” said Blair Hayden, owner of the Lord Nelson.

“It’s perfect on its own or with a meal, and the fact that it’s naturally brewed, with no added sugars and preservatives, really adds to its appeal.”

Lord Nelson marketing manager Jessamyn Mclachlan told TheShout the initiative was really about making the most of "interesting opportunities and exciting new partnerships".

“[We] are unique as we sit astride both the brewery and tourist accommodation pub markets,” said Mclachlan.

“So it’s great to gain this recognition with Carnival for our ale, as this continues when their customers come onshore and visit or stay in our pub.”

Mclachlan confirms the brew will not be launched to the wider market.
