Sydneysiders braced themselves for six weeks of celebration as Oktoberfest was officially launched at the Löwenbräu Keller last night (Sep 17).

The Löwenbräu Keller is the only venue in Australia where revellers can savour Löwenbräu Oktoberfestbier, an authentic ‘Wies’n’ style lager shipped direct from Munich to fuel the festivities.

The Bavarians traditionally drink their Oktoberfest biers from one litre steins but beers will also be available in 300ml and 500ml ‘mini-steins’ as well as the traditional size.

Oktoberfest at the Löwenbräu Keller in The Rocks runs until the end of October, with live entertainment every night of the week.

The event will wind up with a Bavarian fundraiser feast at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park on Thursday, October 22. All proceeds raised on the night will be donated to CareFlight and the Starlight Foundation.

As part of the festivities, The Bavarian Bier Cafés (BBC) will be teaching Sydneysiders how to party like a Bavarian with the chance to win their very own Oktoberfest party.

If BBC groupies can show they’ve learnt how to drink like a Bavarian (by correctly pronouncing the names of famous Munich biers), eat like a Bavarian and dance like a Bavarian, they will have the chance to win a party for 50 of their best mates.

With the promotion officially launching yesterday (Sep 17), consumers can register their interest online at the Bavarian Bier Café website by clicking here and take a look at the first online tutorial on how to ‘drink like a Bavarian’ as demonstrated by Bavarian Bier Café ambassador, Klaus von Krum.

Everyone who comes into the Bavarian Bier Cafés during the promotional period will receive an entry card and the chance to win the Oktoberfest private party.

The new marketing campaign is the latest initiative from the Bavarian Hospitality Group which also owns popular bar and restaurant The Argyle and the Löwenbräu Keller both located in The Rocks, as well as German Beverage Imports, responsible for importing a number of Bavarian biers including Löwenbräu Original, Löwenbräu Dunkel and Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier.
