The future is here, well for now it is until it changes again, with newly-opened Melbourne rooftop bar now accepting payment via cryptocurrencies.

This kind of payment is an emerging trend in retail and hospitality and Fable’s owner, Gehan Rejapakse has been working on the capacity to offer crypto as a payment option since before the venue opened in November 2021.

Gehan, who is also the CEO of AI-assisted crypto trading platform precog.finance, said: “We are so thrilled to be able to provide this option for our clientele at Fable Melbourne. Blockchain technology is revolutionising the way we interact, and now even how we engage in commerce with greater efficiency and transparency.

“Very exciting for brick and mortar merchants like us to be able to plug into this capability.”

Fable is accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether and a number of other currencies and follows Starbucks USA saying it would start accepting crypto payments in November last year.

Simon Moser is a director at Polygrowth, a global leading, European crypto communications agency.

“It’s really exciting that physical stores in Australia are starting to offer cryptocurrency payment options. Global adoption of digital currencies in brick-and-mortar is still relatively slow, so we applaud Gehan Rajapakse and his team at Fable Melbourne for leading the way,” Simon said.

“The increasing availability of crypto payments is more important now than ever and can lay the foundation for a future decentralised economy that benefits consumers and businesses alike.”

Crypto payment bookings can be made via fablemelbourne.com.au: simply choose one of the three packages available (Fable Happily Ever After, Aesop’s Fable or even a Helicopter and Dinner package) and select Utrust as a payment option when checking out.

Fable boasts views from the East End of the city all the way to the Arts Centre, Marvel Stadium and the Bolte Bridge and is open 5pm–1am Wednesday and Thursday; 3pm–2am Friday and Saturday, with their newly launched Aperitivo on offer from 3-6pm Friday-Saturday.
