Merivale is celebrating reaching the midway mark of its inaugural Beer-Oh-Beer festival by offering 49 per cent of every schooner at all of its pubs and bars.
The deal will run until this Sunday, 18 September, and is available between 5-7pm, but is not available at Merivale restaurants.
This promotion forms part of the Beer-Oh-Beer festival, which is celebrating all things brewed and frothy across Merivale’s venues. The festival also includes events, parties, live music, specialist food offerings and games.
Highlights include a weekly comedy night held upstairs at the Beresford in Surry Hills, which will run on Tuesdays throughout September. Tomorrow’s (Tuesday 13 September) lineup includes Matt Okine, Daniel Townes, Bec Charlwood and Frida Deguise.
Meanwhile, Bella Birra at Pool Club in the Sydney CBD is hosting Italian themed evenings on Thursdays and Fridays, with Peroni specials and poolside pizzas on offer.
Merivale’s sushi e venue will become a ‘futuristic Shibuya-style street party’ hosted by Dan Hong and Michael Fox between 1-4pm on Saturday, 17 September, with schooners, yakitori skewers and saké. Japanese hip-hop performers, and anime projections will entertain visitors.
Another eye-catching event is ‘Tins of Glory’, a ‘tinnie-hurling’ tournament presented by Balter, in which teams of two have a minute to slide four Balter tinnies down a six metre bench – think pub-classic game, shuffleboard, but with beer. The even will be hosted by The Alex on 18 September, The Newport on 24 September and The Vic On The Park on 25 September. Winners will receive a year’s supply of beer.
Finally, Merivale has also teamed up with Malt Shovel to produce a limited edition beer, ‘The Good Tap’. Described as a refreshing lager that features ‘subtle mandarin and citrus notes’, the beer is exclusive to The Vic On The Park, Excelsior, Queens Hotel, The Royal Bondi, The Dog and The Newport for the Month of September, with $1 of every sale going to a selected charity for each venue.
