Following an extensive 12 month search, the team from Mixxit has announced the finalists for of its Magnificent 7 competition, which will be held on May 12 at the Ivy Bar in Sydney.

The finalists are Bill Bewsher from 399 Bar in WA, Chris Amon from 1806 Bar in VIC, Ben Tua from Mint Nightclub in WA, Sebastien Derbomez from Hemmesphere in NSW, Asher Pratt from Three Weeds Bar in NSW, Tim Wastell from Nova Cinema in VIC and Darren Leaney from Grace the Establishment in SA.

The competition is now in its second year and will be both the principal event of and official party for the World Cocktail Week celebrations being hosted throughout various Merivale venues in conjunction with Mixxit.

The seven will battle it out live on stage in front of an expected large crowd gathering, with the winner receiving a trip to New York to attend a renowned BAR course hosted by cocktail gurus Dale De Groff and Dave Wondrich.

“As we built this competition on the successes of last year and the word about the amazing prize has spread – the national entries and attendance to Mixxit have been fanatical,” Mixxit national business manager, Jason Crawley, said.

“Mixxit Cities as the key driver of the Magnificent 7 competition throughout 2010 & 2011 has smashed through all expectations and delivered to us a brilliant line up for the final.”
