Independent Australian brewer, Modus Operandi Brewing, has added a new beer to its range, launching Modus Cerveza this month.
The new beer is made locally but inspired by coastal Mexico, designed to be a crisp, easy-drinking and classic beer for summer. Modus said this is the first time an Australian brewery has launched its own style of Cerveza into a core range at such a scale.
Co-founder of Modus, Jaz Wearin, said the move into Cerveza-style was driven by local consumers’ love of Mexican culture.
“The strong growth trend of USA brewers releasing craft Cervezas into the Australian market, has clearly shown Aussie’s love to experience Mexican culture, cuisine, design and lifestyle. Modus are excited about bringing a crafted Cerveza to the Aussie market for those consumers wanting to try something new, that is proudly Australian brewed,” Wearin said.
The launch coincides with continued restrictions easing across the country, making way for more social occasions that Modus Cerveza is well positioned to complement. Described as ‘the perfect thirst quencher for sweltering summer days,’ the new beer features citrus-forward hops and traditional Mexican ingredients, for a light bodied and crisp finishing beer at 4.2 per cent ABV.
“We couldn’t be more excited to launch Modus Cerveza as we see restrictions easing across the country, with a renewed sense of celebration and thirst for life amongst Aussies,” said Wearin.
“This summer is about taking it easy and coming together with friends, enjoying that relaxed and laid back coastal lifestyle. We’re bridging a new evolution of Mexican beer to Aussie drinkers, with a crisp taste that suits everyone – from the craft consumer in search of a fresh, easy-drinking beer, to the everyday drinker looking for an entry into the craft market.”
Modus Cerveza is rolling out across the country now, available in a six pack and 12 pack case.
