The next stage in Skycity’s $30m development, Sandbar, is set to open, creating new hospitality jobs for Darwin.
Comedian George Kapiniaris and The Androids will launch the new beachfront bar tonight (Feb 20).
The venue features a spacious waterfront deck, comprehensive wine list, international beers and an extensive cocktail menu.
Sandbar is the second venue to open as part of the Skycity development project that started in 2007 and will provide entertainment seven nights a week.
Skycity general manager, Andrew Wilson, said the venue will provide more jobs when the new VIP gaming room opens next week.
“In total, once construction is complete, we estimate we will employ almost 100 additional staff to help with the day-to-day running of these new facilities,” he said.
