Wild Turkey has launched Master’s Keep One, the seventh limited-edition release in the award-winning series, with this whiskey celebrating the distinct Bourbon philosophies of Jimmy and Eddie Russell, the father and son Wild Turkey distillers who share a combined 107 years of experience at the distillery.

Master’s Keep One combines Jimmy’s love of mid-aged bourbons, those aged eight to 10 years, with Eddie’s passion for complex characteristics that come with bourbons aged longer.

Eddie said: “Wild Turkey’s heritage was built on family values, a love for whiskey-making, and an endless search for bold flavours.

“Master’s Keep One honours the tools, techniques and tradition that my father handed down, and is a culmination of our shared love of bourbon. Jimmy instilled in me the most rewarding lessons for success in work and life – passion and discipline – and I’ll always be grateful to him for setting me on this path 40 years ago.”

The whiskey inside the bottle uses the same recipe as every other bottle and expression of Wild Turkey, meaning the Master’s Keep One carries the hallmark Wild Turkey taste profile. The difference is this whiskey is a blend of mature bourbons aged between nine and 14 years, which have then been harmonized through a second maturation in specially toasted and charred oak barrels.

The tasting notes describe “notes of toasted and charred oak resulting in an enticing aroma of sweet honey and brown spice, with bold vanilla, butterscotch, and caramel that evolve into a fresh and lingering toasted oak finish”.

The Master’s Keep series launched in 2015 with the original Master’s Keep 17 Year Old and recent expressions have included Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey Cornerstone released in 2019, and last year’s Master’s Keep Bottled in Bond, with further releases in the series to come as well.

Wild Turkey’s Master’s Keep One is priced at $250 RRP and will be available at selected independent liquor specialists from April 2022 and selected Dan Murphy’s from May 2022.
