The Mixology Company, a premium ready to serve cocktail brand out of Melbourne, has announced a change in its ownership.

Milestone Beverages HK Limited (MB) has acquired a 50 per cent stake in The Mixology Company, which will enable enhanced global reach for the Australian company.

The Mixology Company was created in 2021, co-founded by Sean Ekanayake who also heads up Australia-based international distributor, Jonathan Paige International (JPI). Ekanayake partnered with a premium local spirits producer in Melbourne to craft the range of ready to serve cocktails in 200ml and 375ml bottles, which is now sold nationally.

But The Mixology Company had global aspirations too and set out to search for a like-minded partner with a complementary network that would help build the brand on an international scale. JPI already successfully represents MB’s Taisteal and Atilius brands in Australia, so there was a natural connection to grow from.

Ekanayake said: “We have done an incredible job in producing a premium product with many global awards in a short period of time. Milestone was the first partner that came to mind that complimented our team and vision.”

Joe Milner and Damith Weerakoon, Partners at MB, added: “Right place at the right time is a real thing. Our mission is to create, build and even spin-off scalable and viral brands, growing them and our customer bases organically through innovation, relationships and guerrilla tactics where needed.

“We were too late into the RTD game to build our own brand, but the opportunity to buy into Mixology was nothing short of destiny.”

The new partnership made its debut at ProWein Germany this month, with MB showcasing The Mixology Company at the event.

Aside from its home in Australia, The Mixology Company has already launched into the United States and parts of Asia and the Middle East. This new ownership and partnership will provide the best environment for it to continue to grow around the globe.
