Ballarat’s newest nightclub, Depot, will open its doors early to host more than 2,500 university students tomorrow night (Feb 25), when they congregate for the 34th annual ‘O-Week’ pub crawl – the biggest in Australia.

The club says it will offer new university recruits a safe and clean environment in which to gather with fellow students before they hit the books.

“We take security seriously,” said Depot’s nightclub and entertainment manager, Joel Mousley.

“We have invested in enhanced security systems such as a high-tech ID scanner system, additional cameras, and increasing the presence of experienced professional security personnel to man behaviour both in and around the venue.

“In this safe environment, we hope tomorrow night’s ‘crawlers’ can celebrate this momentous stage in their lives in a safe and fun environment.”

With more than 2,500 attendees already registered on Depot’s Facebook page, Ballarat will be playing its part in what is traditionally the first taste of university life Australian students have.

“With O-Week traditionally a time for students to meet one another and get acquainted with the place they’ll call home for the next few years, we are thrilled that we can help kick off this new phase in life for so many,” says Mousley.
