The fourth annual Newcastle Craft Beer Week is now underway, with the official launch event focusing on the region’s strong local contingent of craft breweries.

Held at The Grain Store last night, the opening event celebrated the explosion of the Newcastle brewing scene with beers from Murray’s, Hunter Beer Co, Grainfed Brewing Co, Lovedale Brewery, Morpeth Brewery and Six String Brewing Co.

The full programme takes in over 40 events at almost 20 venues, and incorporates local celebrations of the inaugural Craft Beer Rising event, which takes place nationally tomorrow.

Other highlights include the official NCBW dinner, to be held at Souths Merewether next Wednesday February 26, we well as the Warners At The Bay Beer Festival on Sunday March 2.

ABC Newcastle’s Carol Duncan recently spoke with Corey Crooks from The Grain Store, Shawn Sherlock from Murray's Brewery and Chris McNamara from Craft Beer Industry Association about the upcoming week.
