Iconic Newtown pub The Bank has been sold after being owned and operated by the same family for 40 years.

Selling agent, Andrew Jolliffe, of Ray White Hotels told TheShout the sale speaks of the “compelling attraction of the city fringe hotel market".

"Newtown is a robust investment arena for hotels, comprising major transport interchange investment, a hospital, university and burgeoning retail strip.

"Not surprisingly, we are in discussions with other buyers regarding separate Newtown hotel assets we have on our books."

In related news, Newtown’s Marlborough Hotel is scheduled to go under the hammer again tomorrow with Knight Frank.
