National Leisure and Gaming (NLG) has raised nearly $16,000 for the Movember Foundation, which raises funds and awareness for men’s health.

Teaming up with Tooheys, 33 NLG venues ran Movember themed fundraising events including ‘Mo’ Town parties, barbecues, raffles and ‘Mo’ shave-offs.

NLG executive officer, Andrew Jolliffe, said the events were a great way for staff and patrons to come together to support a good cause.

“I think it was a fantastic activity for our venues to get involved in. Not only is it a worthy cause that affects a significant portion of our target market but, as an initiative, it really helped staff to interact and bond with our patrons on a closer level,” Jolliffe said.

“Promotions of this type which let our staff get behind something they truly believe in, whilst giving them the opportunity to show a side of their personality, are in my view an important ingredient in the success of the NLG Hotel Group.”

Movember runs for the month of November with participants getting sponsored for growing moustaches. The charity raises money for men’s issues including depression and prostate cancer, which kills almost 3000 men each year.
