With the footy season kicking off last Friday, NLG Hotel Group has revealed that ex-football legends Eric ‘Guru’ Grothe and Darryl Brohman will become rugby league ambassadors for the group’s venues.

Nearly 2000 tipsters will frequent NLG venues each week to put in their tips and cheer for their local teams, with Friday night sweeps and all games shown live on a multitude of large screens.

This NRL season will see the group introduce their own NLG ‘Lady Luck’, Renee Slansky, who along with Grothe and Brohman will make regular visits to NLG venues throughout the footy season.

“The Big Marn, Darryl Brohman, has a larrikin nature that many of our customers can relate to, even though he is traditionally a terrible tipster,” NLG group marketing manager, Alistair Flower said.

“Although a national competition, the NRL is a major component of our localised marketing strategy in the venues. Local communities really get behind and are passionate about their teams. With a huge emphasis on local sport sponsorship drive around all NLG venues, we are expecting a huge year!”

The NLG Hotel Group consists of 36 venues in NSW and QLD, with 17 in Sydney’s western suburbs at locations like St Marys, Lalor Park, Auburn, Lidcombe, Canterbury and Campbelltown.
