Riding the craft beer wave all the way across the Tasman, New Zealand legend craft brewer Moa is finally bringing its boutique products to Australia.

The company’s entire portfolio of 10 core brews, specialty and seasonal brews plus cider will be available in all states in a mix of on- and off-premise, with the company "aiming to be the first brewery to sell beer in Australia – without stubby holders".

Nestled in prestigious wine country down the road from Cloudy Bay wines, Moa uses 100 per cent NZ-grown hops and water from the Marlborough wine region.

Speaking to TheShout, General Manager Gareth Hughes said Moa is a winemaker’s spin on beer.

"The most important thing to the craft beer industry is options. People should have the choice of well-constructed brews.

"Craft beer here [NZ] could be likened to the wine industry of ten years ago, with similar approaches to quality and potential.

"Australia is very similar to New Zealand, in that there are a lot of brewers trying to forge a way into the market."

On the ground locally the company has representatives in Sydney and Melbourne busily signing venues and streamlining distribution channels, with events scheduled at beer-savvy venues like The Local Taphouse.

Draught options will make their way here inside Key Kegs – disposable one-use wine and beer containers that break down, to eliminate the cost of freight for re-fills.
