Australia's Oatley and New Zealand's Giesen families have formed an Australian distribution partnership.

Commencing April 2016, the partnership will see Oatley Fine Wine Merchants (OFWM) appointed as distributors of the Giesen portfolio in the Australian independent retail and on-premise markets.

Giesen's collection includes; The Brothers, The Fuders, The Single Vineyard Series, Small Batch wines and The August Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Andrew (Sandy) Oatley, chairman of OFWM, said: "We are very excited to be working with the Giesen brothers to represent their impressive range of wines here in Australia.

"The Giesens have developed a portfolio of wines of great depth, breadth and quality, that enjoy an enviable reputation in the Australian market. We're confident that we can expand on that in the independent retail and on-premise sectors, in which we specialise."

Marlborough's Giesen Wines was founded 30 years ago by brothers Theo, Alex and Marcel Giesen, who remain running the business.

Founder and owner Theo Giesen, said: "We share a distributor with the Oatleys in America and have had the chance to work alongside them and know the two businesses share the same long-term thinking. This partnership in the independent retail and on-premise channels will assist us to meet our objective of showing Australians the diversity and depth of our portfolio. Giesen sales are increasing in Australia and we look forward to this continuing as we work with the OFWM team."
